Don't be intimidated by the dark places of life. Go back to Genesis. God never intended darkness to be bad. He called light "good," but He never called darkness "bad."
However, for our sake a distinction had to be made because God in all His sovereignty knew the end from the beginning.
As a child of God, just remember that the dark places you experience in life are what you make of them. Being created in God's image, you have DOMINION over the darkness. Make sure you get your treasures while you're there in the dark places. Make sure you shine bright and come through wealthy.
"I will give you the treasures of darkness And hidden wealth of secret places, So that you may know that it is I, The LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name." ~Isaiah 45:3
