Ninth Plague: When a plague of darkness overshadows

(Revised and reposted from March 2019)

After many other plagues had come upon the land of Egypt, the plague of darkness came over the land and covered for three days. Yet all the Israelites had light in the places where they lived.

Exodus 10:23 "They DID NOT SEE ONE ANOTHER, NOR DID ANYONE RISE from his place for three days, but all the people of Israel had light where they lived."

Two ways to identify if darkness is overshadowing you:

1) Sightlessness. "They did not see one another." When the plague of darkness is overshadowing you, you begin to lose your spiritual sight. You may start to internalize things (where you turn the issues and your feelings inside) rather than casting them upon the Lord. The plague (which very well may be out of your control) becomes more about you than about God, what God is doing or wants to do in the midst of the plague, and more about you than others. Darkness causes obscurity in vision. 2) Immobility. "...nor did anyone rise." Darkness paralyzes you from rising up. You can identify darkness overshadowing if you have become numb to the situation, disabled by fear, or spiritually stuck. You become stagnant and unproductive when you are immobile. The only thing that extinguishes darkness is light. The Word of God is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. His light shines in darkness and the darkness comprehends (overcomes) it not. Cover yourself in His light. It is essential that you operate at your fullest capacity, in His fullest light.
