Power in the Passover

Passover is a triumphant picture of God’s intervention, deliverance, and involvement in the lives of His people.

Passover begins today, Wednesday, April 8th, at sundown until sundown April 16th. It is commemorated each year to share the history of Israel and recount how God brought a drastic deliverance to Israel after centuries of slavery.

We see the demonstration of God’s mighty hand as He wrought miracles surrounding the Passover. The constant denials of Pharaoh against the children of Israel set the scene for God to reveal His power, not only to Israel but also to the Egyptians. It was a powerful reminder that GOD REMEMBERS. It was reaffirmation to the nation of Israel that God had not forgotten them nor had He forgotten His covenant and the promise made to their fathers.

Passover is a prophetic picture of God’s power, grace, redemption, and love: the power, grace, redemption, and love of a perfect sacrificial Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).

So, it once was: “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:” (Exodus 12:5, KJV)

…but now it is: “Remove the old yeast [of sin] so that you may be a new batch of dough, since you don't actually have the yeast [of sin]. Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” (1 Corinthians 5:7, God’s Word Translation).

The Passover speaks of the redemptive power of the blood. The blood of the original sacrifice of Passover was placed on the upper doorposts which served as a sign for God to pass over.

"The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt." (Exodus 12:13, ESV)

"How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:14)" The blood of Jesus that brought the new covenant speaks a better word.

The Passover season serves as a sign of God's redemptive power and His relentless love for His people.

The message of the Passover is as powerful today as God always intended it to be.

Let us not allow the enemy to deceive us. This season is extremely significant. The Passover season is one of power, riches, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing through Christ, the Lamb of God.

“Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing” (Revelation 5:12, KJV).
